Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has urged his young players to improve amid the current transfer window constraints the club face.

    The Red Devils have splashed out on new signings, including Joshua Zirkzee, Leni Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Masraoui, over the summer, but the likes of Kobbie Menu, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo remain key to the squad.

    Ahead of Sunday’s home clash with Spurs, Ten Hag said: “That’s a choice (to field young players) that we’ve made in the last two seasons.”

    “I understand the impression that many people have of Manchester United because of its great history, but the choices we make are financial and there are other constraints that we have to deal with,”

    “We pick up young players who are not at the level we expect them to be at. We’ve to develop them and they have to develop themselves as well.”

    “We also need to find a team that will continue to be สมัคร ufabet successful and this team, in the last two years, has shown that it can be done and sometimes we can win trophies, but we need to be more consistent.”

Ten Hag has also outlined United’s European aims, adding: ‘It’s [Champions League qualification].

‘I never spoken of how you ask me the question now, but what I think is: we have to succeed.

‘And we have to win trophies, that’s what this club stands for and the highest platforms; this club has the ambition to play in the highest platform.

‘Yeah, we want to achieve the Champions League, that’s clear, and we have two routes, the Premier League [top four] and the other one is [winning] the Europa League.’

United qualified for this season’s Europa League after winning the FA Cup last term, defeating rivals Manchester City in the final.

The Red Devils are back in European action on Thursday with a trip to Porto following their opening draw against FC Twente.
